Introducing!

We have a new member of the family. No it is not a baby brother or sister for Benny (at least not yet, we are working on that one). We traded in our truck for a mini-van. We had to go all the way to Wenatchee to do it, but it was worth it. It is a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. It has low miles ( only about 35,500) and has a lot of cool Brad toys. One of the toys Benny likes is the DVD player. We tested it out on the 5 hour drive back from Wenatchee. Benny only gets to use it when we go on long trips. The van has power sliding doors and a power lift gate in the back. Benny has mastered the button to open and close the door and would frequently try to close the door on me when I am trying to get him in or out of the van. I took some pictures of it. Yes, we have another red vehicle.

18 month checkup

Wow, I can not believe that it has been 18 months since by little boy was born. He had his 18 month check up and was a very good boy. He is 32 1/2 inches tall and weighs 23.5 pounds. He is about average now for his height, but still in the 25th percentile in weight. He is proportional and healthy and that is all that matters. The doctor did not have any concerns and said that he was a very healthy little boy. We were concerned about his speech though and brought this up with the doctor. Benny should have a vocab of about 5 to 10 words now and he may have about 3 to 5 of which we can really understand. He does talk a lot, it is just a matter of trying to understand what he is saying. The doctor recommended reading to Benny more or at least once a day. We are going to try to work reading to him into his bedtime routine. Also, we are limiting the amount of TV he watches. We have been very lax in this so this will be a struggle for all of us. But, it is for Benny's good. The doctor said that if we didn't see a significant improvement in his vocabulary, we are to bring him back in two months. If he is okay, then we won't go back to the doctor until Benny's 2nd birthday.

Benny had to get 3 shots, one for chicken pox, one was a flu shot, and the other was a booster for a vaccine he already had previous shots for. He cried when they were administered, but by the time we redressed him, he was okay. He remained okay the rest of the day.

Yummy Snow

Benny was facinated with the snow. One night I brought some in for him to play with. He found out that he could eat it.

Here are some more snow pictures. I think we had at least 8 inches when it was all said and done. We actually had a white Christmas. Here are the poor snowmen that line our sidewalk. Here are our deer eating snow.

Our little sledding guy seemed to be caught in a snowdrift.

I thought this picture was neat. The snow kind of makes the bush quite illuminated.

More Christmas pictures

I bought Benny a toy phone so he could practice talking on it so when family and friends call, he will be used to talking. Boy can this boy talk. We can sometimes pick out what seems like a word. Here he is with his Leapfrog school bus.

This is megablocks fire truck that he had picked out a few months before Christmas. I took advantage of the fact that he has a short memory.

"Santa" brought Benny Rudolph. When you press Rudolph's ear, his nose glows.

Christmas Pictures

Benny had fun opening up his Christmas presents this year. The only problem was that he wanted to play with each toy instead of openning up another one. We had to start hiding the opened ones so he could open more. Thank you to all who sent presents. Benny really enjoys playing with them.

Moomie and Pop Pop bought the Eagles' jersey for Benny. As you can see, it is a little big right now, but hopefully next fall it will fit better and who knows, the Eagles might win the Superbowl.

Grandma and Grandpa gave Benny this mower. He really likes pulling it around the house.
