Old Blue Eyes!

Well, he is not that old, but I thought these pictures were cute. I found this hat the other day and wondered if it fit Benny. Well, you can see that it did. He is my little Frank Sinatra.

Fast Learner!

My little boy is a fast learner. One minute he is learning to crawl on his hands and knees and the next he is pulling himself up on anything he can. He pulls himself up to stand by the couch. He pulls himself up to standing in his crib (so today we lowered it again) and today he even managed to pull himself up to standing in the pack -n- play. He even tried to let go of the couch. Needless to say, he has fallen many times but that doesn't stop him. He even got his first real boo-boo. He fell and one of his top teeth cut the inside of his bottom lip. It bled a little bit, but he was soon over it. He is really making our lives more interesting.

9 Month Checkup

Benny did very well at his 9 month check up. He ended up getting one shot and finished crying before the band aid was put on. What a trooper! My guesses were way off. He is 2 tenths away from being 20 lbs. He is now 28 3/4 inches which means he only grew 1/4 of an inch. At first we were concerned, but since he was above average last time, he is now average for his age. The doctor was very happy that Benny is feeding himself and suggested that we start practicing with sippy cups. He would like to see Benny off of the bottle by the time he is a year old.

The Little Explorer

Benny was quite the explorer yesterday. He was playing over by his bookcase and then he got very quiet. This means he either playing with the coats or he crawled into the dining room chasing after the cat's toys. The video above shows you what I found him doing. Now that he can get around, he is discovering all sorts of things to get into like the kitchen cabinets!

Dont' worry, he did bump his head, but he didn't cry.

Choo! Choo!

These pictures were taken today. Benny really likes his train. He follows it around. He really likes to watch the wheels turn. He is even learning to put the balls back in all by himself. The real reason I took these pictures is to let Aunt Leslie know that the Home Depot outfit he is in is too small for him in length. It is a 12 month outfit but he is too tall for it. The other outfits (onsies) still fit him, so he will be wearing them often.

Ready for the Beach!

Last week we had an unusually warm and sunny day. I took the opportunity to dress Benny in some summer clothes. Since we will be visiting the beach in May, I wanted to make sure some of his summer clothes will fit him. We ended up going outside for a while, but I think the sun was too bright for Benny. We don't get to much sun here or warm weather.

Take me out to the ball game!

On April 15th, Benny attended his first Major League Baseball game. He saw the Seattle Mariners take on the Kansas City Royals. Mariners won! We had great seats. We were in the family section which is right between right and center fields. (I had a great view of Ichiro, one of my favorite Mariners!) Benny seemed to really like looking at the scoreboard which was right behind us. During the fifth inning we went walking around the ballpark hoping that Benny would take a nap. No such luck! It sure was cold. I don't think the temperature went any higher than 45 degrees and it was windy too. Brad was so cold that he ended up buying a sweatshirt to wear. We bought Benny his first Mariner's Moose and a Mariner's bib. He already had a jacket and t-shirt before the game. Everything was going fine until a train blew its whistle REALLY LOUD and scared Benny to the point of hysterics. I was in the bathroom warming up a bottle for him and when I came out, Brad was doing his best to calm Benny down. (Sorry, Grandpa, I hope this is not a sign that Benny will not like trains.) Anyway, Benny didn't sleep until the drive home. All in all I think we had a good time. Next time we go, I hope it is a lot warmer.

Fussy Eater!

Just when we thought we had him figured out, Benny changed his eating habits. He now refuses to eat anything that is on a spoon. I have tried all sorts of baby food and even switched cereals. If he sees a spoon coming anywhere near his mouth, he will automatically push it away. So now he has been eating finger foods. Mostly banana and strawberry-apple flavored rice puffs. He also eats rice crackers and today he really got into eating Cheerios. He also ate some bits of banana. I have cut up some apples and green beans, cooked them (seperately of course) and put them in the freezer. We will be trying the green beans tonight for dinner. He drinks alot of water and juice (only apple so far) and his bottle. He is really getting the hang of holding his bottle. He has his 9 month check up on Wednesday. Hopefully the doctor can give me suggestions as to what to feed him. Feel free to comment as well.

More Teeth

Benny now has 6 teeth. Four on the top and two on the bottom. He has such a sweet smile!

Benny's Favorite Game

Benny really likes to play peek-a-boo. He found out that he could do it with the curtains over the slider door.

Big Boy

Benny is doing a great job of sitting up unassisted for long periods of time. He can even go from sitting to crawling with little problems. He still hasn't mastered sitting up on his own yet, but we are working on it.

New Friend for Benny!

Congratulations to the Felix family on the birth of Carlie Rose. You can get all the details on their website (see link on right hand side of page). Benny has a new friend to play with now. We hope to meet the newest member of the Felix family either tomorrow or Saturday.
